Quotables #5

There are only two options regarding commitment. You're either IN, or you're OUT. There's no such thing as life in-between.
--Pat Riley

This has really applied to my past couple of weeks. I truly feel as though I'm moving beyond the "forcing myself to exercise" thing. And now I'm getting into the fact that I've actually made exercising and watching what I eat a habit in my life. How did I do that? Commitment.

It certainly hasn't been easy. Before July 14th, I'd never gone more than 3 times in a row of exercising. To be perfectly honest, I wasn't committed. I was pretty much half-assing it. That's not okay. You cannot live your life halfway.

The first statistics I heard about habits said it takes 3 weeks of consistently doing something in order to make it a habit. However, I've now heard it can take up to 6. I'm just now hitting that 6 week mark, and I'm proud of myself. Because of the fact that I have finally committed myself to getting healthy and losing weight, I'm able to make it a part of my every day life.

That's not to say I'm the peppy little cheerleader who is excited to get her exercises done every day. Often, I'm far from it. After reading 6 chapters from different books, taking care of the boyfriend and the cat, going to classes, cleaning, etc., I often find myself yearning to hit the pillow for a 30-minute nap rather than hitting the DDR pad for a 30-minute workout.

But the satisfaction I feel after feeling the burn and sweating off some calories is so rewarding to me. I hold a great sense of pride in the fact that I can say, "Yeah, I did at least 30 minutes of working out today. Just like I've done every day since July 14th. (Except for 2 times, but those were excused, hehe.)"

So…this is a short quotables, because I think the quote speaks for itself. Commitment is a powerful tool. It's what you need to achieve any sort of goal, whether it be weight loss, learning a new language, or even cleaning your room. :)

You're strong enough to be committed. So make sure you're never out. Always count yourself as IN, and you'll succeed.
